Add color to your projects with decorative coatings

Vacuum deposits have been recognized for years for their anti-wear, anti-corrosion and anti-seize properties on a wide range of materials.

In addition to their functional properties, our PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coatings are also used for aesthetic purposes.

Our THERMI-PLATiN site has been mastering this activity since 1996, making us an experienced player.
Thanks to our expertise and depending on the cladding chosen, it is possible to achieve a varied palette of colors ranging from deep black to elegant gray, through precious hues such as gold, pink, bronze or even mauve, not forgetting silver.

To enhance the aesthetics of your products, a range of finishes is available: brushed, matte or satin, to suit your needs and inspiration.

Produced in an ultra-thin layer, the PVD process does not alter the geometry of the part and is suitable for a wide range of applications, including:
- Fittings
- Watchmaking
- Jewellery
- Tableware and cutlery
- Perfumes and cosmetics
- Wines and spirits
- Any metal substrate

THERMI-PLATiN's innovative solutions bring elegance, durability, aesthetics and unrivalled performance to your products and packaging, in line with your brand image.

What is the PVD process?

An eco-responsible coating method

The aim of vacuum deposition is to deposit extremely hard, thin layers on the surface of treated parts at very low pressure, thereby improving their performance and lifespan.

The PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) process is carried out at between 200°C and 450°C to form a metallic vapor which is then deposited on parts. This method can be used on a wide range of materials, and is an eco-responsible alternative to electrolytic surface treatment processes, electroplating and anodizing.

Why choose Thermilyon decorative coatings?

Innovative, aesthetic, durable and functional coverings.

personalization

Closer to your brand

The PVD process enables us to produce a wide range of shades (Pantone standard). A range of finishes (matte, gloss, satin, brushed, etc.) can be achieved, depending on your projects and the desired effect.

Sustainability & eco-responsibility

Greentech process

PVD coatings are produced at lower temperatures than other processes (between 200 and 450°C). Our processing machines are powered by green electricity, without using or releasing pollutants.

    Our FAQs

    What is vacuum deposition?

Vacuum deposition is a surface treatment used to deposit a material or alloy on a mechanical part.

The use of vacuum technology ensures a perfectly clean, non-polluting process.

It is not subject to REACH legislation.

How do I choose the right deposit method?

The deposition method depends above all on the nature of the coating to be deposited and the substrate.

If the substrate cannot be heated to high temperature, the deposition must be carried out using low-temperature technology.

If the coating to be deposited consists of a solid element (metal or graphite target), a physical process such as PVD is used. If the coating consists of a gas or liquid, a chemical process such as CVD or PACVD is used.

What are the advantages of PVD technology?

This process greatly increases resistance to wear, abrasion, friction and corrosion. As a result, component life is greatly extended.

Standard thicknesses are of the order of 3µm and deposition is carried out on finished parts.

What's the difference between PVD and PACVD?

PVD is physical vapor deposition. The element to be deposited is obtained by evaporation or sputtering via a physical process. PACVD is plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition. The element to be deposited is obtained from chemical reactions. Plasma enables this chemical reaction to take place at lower temperatures.

What do I need to know when consulting a customer or placing an order for vacuum deposits?

Nature of steel or carbide, if steel treated, please specify the treatments carried out. Desired characteristics (hardness), quantities of parts per shipment and per year, drawings of the part and specifications. If possible, how the part will be used and its final purpose.
