Sulfonitrocarburizing data sheet
Sulfonitrocarburizing is an ionic thermochemical treatment designed to improve the seizure, wear and fatigue resistance of metal parts. Known as TRIONIC 100®, this process involves introducing sulfur, nitrogen and carbon into the surface of the part by plasma activation, forming a high-hardness sulfonitrocarburized layer.
The advantages of this treatment include enhanced resistance to abrasive wear and pitting, high seizure resistance thanks to lubricant retention in porous zones, and dimensional stability thanks to the limited treatment temperature. The flexibility of the ionic process means that parameters can be fine-tuned to obtain coatings tailored to the desired characteristics. This treatment is particularly recommended for highly stressed parts, such as gears, camshafts, slides and tooling.
