Data sheet on simple oxidation
Simple oxidation is a thermochemical surface treatment designed to improve the corrosion resistance of metal parts, by forming a stable oxide layer on previously nitrided parts. This process effectively replaces traditional surface coatings such as phosphating, black chromium plating or zinc plating, and gives parts a uniform black coloration.
OSN® treatment is carried out using three possible processes: oxidation in a controlled gas atmosphere, plasma oxidation or oxidation in a salt bath. The choice of process depends on the nitriding technique used and the type of parts being treated. To enhance resistance to salt spray, impregnation with a suitable product can be carried out.
